Capital City Ladies is a women’s social group located in Topeka, Kansas, created from the concept of “Girl Scouts for adults.” As a group, we participate in social meet-ups, community involvement, opportunities to learn life skills, and make lasting friendships. Whether you’re looking to meet new people, try new things, or support your local community, we’re here to serve as a resource for you. Our motto is, “when women support each other, incredible things happen,” and we truly believe that!
Our group first met in August of 2016 for our first “Coffee and Coloring” event. It continues to be our biggest event each time we do it, and an easy way for women to get out of their comfort zone and come join us. We have no membership requirements, and, unless otherwise noted for specific events, you are welcome to just show up! We try to schedule events on different days of the week to accommodate different schedules. We understand that not everyone has the same work and personal schedule, so we hope that if you can’t make it to one event, you might be able to make it to the next. In the past, we have painted at Studio 62 and Potwin Pottery, taken a self-defense class, attempted escape rooms at Keynundrum, filled blessing boxes around town, helped keep our city litter free, and even more!
On the third Saturday of each month, unless otherwise noted, we meet at Horne Park, our adopted park, located at 3510 SW Atwood Ave at 10:00 a.m. We pick up litter and make note of any damaged or vandalized park equipment to report to Shawnee County Parks and Recreation. Trash bags, gloves, and hand sanitizer are always provided, and this is a great event to bring your kids along to help. We also plan one event unique to each month that we post on our Facebook page as well as our website. These events range from painting, escape rooms, bowling, volunteer opportunities, self-defense classes, and whatever else the group expresses interest in! Capital City Ladies also has a subgroup for “health and fitness” themed activities, as well as a “moms” group for events targeted for our ladies with kids. Events for both of these groups are also shared on our Facebook page, as well as our website. We are always open to suggestions for activities. This group is for you!
